Sarmad Khoosat’s social drama film Zindagi Tamasha is slated for release on 24 January 2020.The film was premiered at Busan film festival where it won an award as well. The film had been cleared by all three censor boards prior to its premierr without any cuts. However as its domestic release came closer it was recalled. After review it was cleared again with a few cuts.
Zindagi Tamasha caught itself in jeopardy as a complaint was been filed against Sarmad Khoosat, writer and producer. This is the second project of Sarmad Khoosat after Manto which released way back in 2015 and emerged a success by grossing over PKR 50 million.
Sarmad Khoosat took to social media where he explained the whole situation he and his film Zindagi Tamasha is going through. The film went through censors twice. He revealed that despite the film going through such rigorous censor process, the same group is attempting to halt the release based on their assumptions drawn from the trailer.
He explained that this time the group is trying pressure tactics. He also talked about the role of CBFC in this. When the constitutional authority has already passed the film then these tactics should be addressed. He wrote this heartfelt note to the President and Prime Minister Of Pakistan alongwith Chief Justice and Chief Of Army Staff.
