World Bank and Pakistan signed an accord worth $ 200m earlier on Friday to combat the contagious Coronavirus in Pakistan. The deadly virus has already infected over 1.1 million globally with 60,000 plus deaths.
The contract between Pakistan and World Bank was singed on national level and the finances will be used in health sector to detect and fight the coronavirus crisis.
The finances will be used for all the provinces and project beneficiaries will be infected people, at-risk populations, medical and emergency personnel as well as service providers at medical and testing facilities.
Key technical departments will also benefit from this project. “The World Bank is ramping up its support to Pakistan and its people to fight the spread of COVID-19 in the country” said Illango Patchamuthu, World Bank, country director for Pakistan.
