Winter Holidays are almost coming to an end and New Year period has commenced. The first and only major release of the year is horror flick “The Grudge”. The film has been allocated huge number of shows and it will be trying to hold off Jumanji: The Next Level over the weekend for top position. At the same time, Frozen 2 will continue strong run. Will The Grudge be able to topple Jumanji over the Weekend? Before getting into that let’s take a look at the movies releasing over the weekend.
MOVIES RELEASING THIS WEEKEND
Nicolas Pesce directorial The Grudge is the only major release of the weekend. Remake of 2013’s film of same title, horror flick has met with disappointing reviews as rotten tomatoes score stands at mere 15%. The film does have some brand value and also its first major horror film after months which does give film an advantage at the box office.

Jumanji: The Next Level has been leading the box office for three straight weeks and the film is another hit for Dwayne Johnson in Pakistan. Frozen 2 is shattering records as it became second highest grossing animated film of all time last week. Spies in Disguise was steady whereas Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker saw huge fall. Cats took poor start however Knives Out and Ford v Ferrari continued steady runs.

Capitalizing on brand value and hunger for horror genre, The Grudge will take first spot over the weekend however owing to poor reviews holds in coming days will be an issue. Jumanji: The Next Level will have another solid week as the film has found appreciation and it is now a clean hit. Disney’s Frozen 2 will take third spot as the film will be hitting PKR 90 million mark by the end of week. Spies In Disguise should show solid hold in second week taking 4th spot and the film should hit PKR 4 million mark by the end of this weekend. Shehzad Rafique’s Salute is having a wide re release over the Weekend and the film will be battling with Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker and Knives Out for the 5th spot.
