Winter holidays have started and we can see the effects at the ticket windows with holdover releases showing solid growth. This Friday has seen animated release Spies In Disguise alongwith musical Cats. Both the films are carrying low buzz and weekend will be led by holdover releases. Before we predict the weekend Boxoffice, let’s take a look at the films which released on Friday.
Films Released This Weekend
Spies In Disguise
Will Smith and Tom Holland starrer Spies In Disguis will be targeting kids and families over the holiday period. The film is carrying positive reviews but the buzz is not strong enough to hold off Frozen 2 which is shattering records at Pakistani box office.
Tyalor Swift’s musical Cats bombed badly at domestic market last weekend. The film opens in Pakistan this weekend but things are not good as film is carrying very poor 18% on rotten tomatoes alongwith mere 2.6 rating on IMDB.
HOLD OVERS FROM PREVIOUS WEEKS
- Jumanji: The Next Level
- Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker
- Frozen 2
- Knives Out
- Ford V Ferrari
- Terminator Dark Fate
- Parey Hut Love
- The Donkey King (re-release)
Despite the mega release of Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker, Dwayne Johnson starrer Jumanji: The Next Level led the box office for second week in a row. Frozen 2 saw huge gains on weekdays as holidays season has kicked in. Knives Out and Ford v Ferrari continued steady runs.
Box office Prediction for 27-29 December 2019
Jumanji: The Next Level will lead the box office for third week in a row as film has already entered top 10 grossing Hollywood releases of 2019. Frozen 2 will see further gains this weekend due to Holidays and will secure second spot. Frozen 2 will be hitting PKR 80 million mark by the end of the weekend. Despite having drops on weekdays third spot will be taken by Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker as the film will be hitting PKR 15 million by the end of weekend. It will be a close call for 4th position between the new releases Spies In Disguise and Sacch and it looks like Spies In Disguise will take 4th position due to Holidays factor.
