Pakistani film industry is on the rise as many big projects are underway. Year 2020 is already looking huge with many big budgets set to hit the cinema screens. Amidst all this, a film on the life of king of swing Wasim Akram has been announced.
The film is titled “Akram: An Era” and it will be directed by Adeel Niazi who is also the executive producer of the film alongwith Arsalan H Shah. The film will be produced by “502 Productions” and “Pomelo Films”.
The cast of the film is not final yet however the makers did announce that the film will go on floors at the end of this year which means that the film will release next year. The auditions for the role of Wasim Akram will be open after PSL. The script however has been locked in and the biopic will not only highlight Wasim’s endeavors inside the stadium but also be an insight into his personal life.
Talking about the film Wasim Akram shared ” The fact that films are being
made on cricket and, more importantly, sports stars is not only a good sign for the film industry but for the sport as well. Movies are a unique portal to engage a whole new generation, I am looking forward to participating in the production and cannot wait to see how this pans out.”
The film’s announcement came yesterday during the opening ceremony of PSL 2020 as a teaser was also revealed. Check the teaser below
The film will definitely be a huge treat for millions of fans of cricket legend Wasim Akram as the film will not only show the cricket journey of Wasim Akram rather the film will also feature Akram’s personal life and his life outside the cricket stadium.
