Pakistani cinema was seeing fantastic growth in last few years. Going back in 2009 it seemed a dark time when there were very few releases and very limited number of productive screens. But it got better each year. Films like My Name Is Khan in 2010 emerged a mega Blockbuster Since then each year biggest grosser chart was filled with Hindi films. Next year saw big blockbuster Bol leading the pack but other than that it was all full of Hindi films. Don 2 took record start of it's time and emerged biggest blockbuster for Shah Rukh Khan in Pakistan. Ra One was another massive hit! Bodyguard was highlight of the Eid and made huge money at ticket window! Films like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Rokstar and Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara did very well too.. After such a successful year 2012 saw a very big jump in boxoffice. Jab Tak Hai jaan became first film ever to hit 1cr mark in a single day despite having a clash with Son Of Sardar. Well cinema saw very big step forward this year with even small Hindi films becoming Hit at boxoffice and we saw new screens coming in! There was not even a single local film that emerged blockbuster! Then 2013 saw first film ever to hit 2cr in a single day and it was again Hindi film and it was done by Dhoom 3. This year also saw first film ever to hit 25cr mark in cinema making a new record and we saw fantastic growth at boxoffice.. Not only this films like Krrish 3 and Chennai Express emerged mega blockbusters. Then we saw super hits like Aashiqui 2, Race 2 and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Now coming towards local cinema except Waar there was nothing to safe grace. After one after another Hindi blockbusters cinemas started to increase manifold especially in Punjab that's why Lahore became major contributor for the boxoffice. Another fantastic year for the cinema with 2014 seeing films like PK emerging All Time Blokcbuster and Kick giving massive 17cr despite releasing pre-Eid! Despite negative Word Of Mouth film like Happy new Year hit 10cr mark and we also saw big hits like Bang Bang and Khoobsurat. At local cinema only Na Maloom Afraad did well but that film too was only blockbuster in Karachi. Cinema was reaching prime time due to one after another crowd puller Hindi film. As a result another local film Jawan Phir Nahi Ani hit 30cr becoming first film to hit that. But one blockbuster was never going to be okay for cinemas and that's where Hindi films saved cinema! We saw clash of Dilwale and Bajirao mastani and both film added 30cr commutative! Then Bajrangi Bhaijaan added 22+cr and emerged mega blockbuster! And there were several hits! These hits gave regular footfall to the cinemas and these regular footfalls pushed local industry also. But this year there has been ban on Hindi films since October. Post october this year was looking at record turnover due to films like Sultan and Actor In law and we were seeing massive increase in screen count! Sultan became first first film to hit 4cr in single day But it all got sad when we saw ban in October. Earlier it was said it will be just two Weeks ban and will be lifted before Ae Dil Hai Mushkil but it all got worse when it was not lifted due to Quetta attack but now it's prolonged and cinemas have lost crores of rupees in the form of potential hits like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Dear Zindagi, Befikre and not only that, cinemas are loosing regular footfalls big time! Next in line is Dangal which was expected to be biggest release ever! Back in 2010 not even a single film hit 30lacs in single day but in last six years we have saw such big growth that this year Sutlan hit 4cr in single day. No Industry survive with one or two hits a year, Industry always need regular footfalls and regular big films! Pakistani Industry is till not that grown! Hindi films were giving us multiple blockbusters and many hit films each year which was taking local industry up too! But Due to fast dip in the footfalls situation is getting very bad and we are seeing huge decrease of staffs at cinemad and screens are getting closed! If this ban is not lifted soon then situation will get out of hands in coming Weeks and we will be again reaching dark ages where there will be only few local releases which won't be able to survive either and we will be left with one or two cinemas in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad!

So we are just few days away from biggest clash of Cinema history! Couple of months back it looked like it will be between Janaan and Actor In Law as Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay won't be a threat.. But each day musical hit is getting bigger and bigger.. Show times and advance of couple of places are up for Eid and Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay has taken equal shows to Janaan and Actor In Law which is big achievement for the film and indicates that demand is very good for the film at leading plexes.. Film's music is becoming sensational hit and team has become pro active suddenly as they have started city promotions and that too big ones. They are even planing musical events which will further boost film's music! It is looking like now Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay will be getting close to both biggies on Eid day which will be super success for such a film and distribution house, "Geo Films".. On other end advance is going very good for both Actor In Law and Janaan but as it is too early to start advance hence not much tickets sold yet! Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay is in the race also as it's advance is also quite good!!
Eid is slated for 13 September and that means we are just 9 days away from the release of three biggies Janaan, Actor In Law and Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay.. Actor In Law wrapped up it's promotional campaign of Punjab which was a decent success.. They took masses very well but Lahore promotions were not that successful! Team Janaan is fully promoting their product in Punjab right now. Third Release Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay is not doing much promotional events but that film already has got a big plus and that plus is enough to stand against two biggies at ticket window.. It will be interesting to see if this musical hit will effect only metros or small circuits also.. If it created effect at masses also then film has quite a chance at boxoffice.. Right now film is not as big as Janaan or Actor In Law but musical plus will boost it and how much can only be known on actual day! Film's promotional activities are slow yet effective, it seems team is pushing their music as much as they can and with 9 days to go for the release they can still take it further ahead.. So all three releases right now are looking well set with their pluses.. Janaan has ARY Films which do amazing marketing and they are doing it extremely well!! Actor In Law has big cast and they have exploited masses well where cast create good effect.. Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay has hit music and they are promoting it effectively at social media! It will be an interesting clash to see this Eid!!
Eid is releases are just 10 days away and it is getting exciting each day.. All releases are looking good and makers are extremely confident with their product.. In today's episode we are gonna discuss that how important is Lahore in this clash! Coming towards territorial importance Lahore has biggest potential when it comes to boxoffice and it usually tend to perform better for Hindi films especially masaala films or the ones with big casts!! In both these departments Actor In Law is ahead over other two releases, but in past films with hit music also get super start in the circuit which means Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay will be having potential in the circuit too!! But looking at current promotions Janaan is looking to exploit Lahore the most and hence it would be interesting to see how Janaan will perform in Lahore and if it manages to reach Actor In Law in Lahore then that would mean fantastic start for the film.. Few places like Super Cinemas and Cinepax might open better for Janaan and these two places contribute a lot for Lahore Boxoffice.. Overall it will be very interesting to see how this circuit will perform as all three releases have strong pluses for their films in the circuit and more interesting will be how much show each film will get in the circuit!!
We are just few days away from Mega Eid clash and things are heating up well with all releases fully charged with their promotional campaigns. Music Album of Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay is getting big each day whereas Actor In Law has taken a new step in promotions. Actor In Law became first film ever to promote their film in mass circuits of Punjab visiting Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.. Response was terrific in those areas as Fahad Mustafa has good following in those places.. It will be interesting to see how these places will perform over the Eid as they contribute handsome numbers in total boxoffice especially on Eids.. Even though Eid is still few days away but such a huge response in those areas for Actor In Law indicate that film will get good footfalls over Eid and cast has good following in those circuits.. With genre already favoring those places it will be safe to say that Actor In Law will lead in those places on Eid but again as there are mostly single screens in those places hence it will all melt down to number of shows in those places and real threat to Actor In Law can be Baar Baar Dekho there.. Right now it seems that Actor In Law will see a better start in masses especially after seeing outstanding response to promotions but real test will be multiplexes and if Janaan has to get better numbers then it will have to beat Actor In Law at leading multiplexes!
