One of the most talked about series in Pakistan currently is the period 13th century hero series Dirilis Ertugrul ( Ertugrul Ghazi). The series is on air on PTV Home in Urdu dubbing and also available on Netflix with English subtitles. The airing of the series has also initiated a debate as to why our local drama makers don’t take a page from their history and make it into a series.
In light of this, Mere Paas Tum Ho writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar has claimed that he is starting work on a drama along the lines of the hit Turkish drama Dirilis Ertugrul. He also mentioned having discussed it with Humayun Saeed.
The writer who is often in the limelight and not always for the right reasons, appeared on a TV show recently. The host brought up Dirilis: Ertugrul and inquired Qamar whether he is working on something like it. To this he revealed, “Of course, we are definitely thinking to make something like this. Three days ago, I have spoken to Humayun Saeed about this and we have decided to make something.”
The Pyarey Afzal writer further added, “I have been asking him to work on something like this for the last twelve years but the problem is we have limitations. We do not have enough facilities, otherwise, we have brilliant actors.”
This energized the host who realized the writer has given her a breaking news that he is thinking of working on something like the Turkish epic. To her implication the writer interrupted, “I am not just thinking about it, I am going to start penning the script from tomorrow.”
Recently Qamar was caught in controversy while his drama Mere Paas Tum Ho was on air, the writer appeared on several shows and shared his views on women and feminism that didn’t bode well with many.
