Turkish hit series Dirilis Ertugrul (Ertugrul Ghazi) has become talk of the town as it airs in Urdu dubbed version on PTV Home. The network has also created a separate YouTube channel to make the show available for streaming. The show has garnered immense popularity, with many resonating with it for it representation of Muslim hero Ertugrul.

The network recently launched a campaign to break the record of getting most number of new subscribers in a month. The current record holds at 6.6 million. While they still have a long way to go in that aspect, the series has still managed to break one it probably wasn’t even eyeing to break.

Before Ertugrul, one recent Pakistani drama that received such massive response was Mere Paas Tum Ho. The popularity of Nadeem Baig directorial was unreal and unseen in recent years with thousands flocking to cinemas to watch its finale. The drama managed to rake millions of views on every episode on Youtube as well. In fact Ayeza Khan starrer’s first episode has a record number of views, currently a little above 20 million. The first episode of Humayun Saeed’s drama was aired about 9 months ago.

Interestingly enough, Ertugrul Ghazi has managed to get 21 millions views on its first episode which was uploaded 21 days ago! That is very impressive not to mention the massive difference in the number of subscribers for both channels. Besides the content also having a mass appeal, one thing is for sure that Ertugrul Ghazi has a good marketing team on board. Now let’s see if Ertugrul can accomplish its subscriber record or not.

Meanwhile, Mere Paas Tum Ho’s writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar has revealed that he has been inspired by Dirilis Ertugrul for quite sometime now and plans on writing a historic epic along the same lines. He already discussed with Humayun Saeed who would produce it.
